Essential Places to visit in North Island

Cape Regina

Cape Reinga is the most northern part of New Zealand.

It is definitely the most northerly tip you can visit and it is simply amazing. In the Maori culture this place considered a sacred site of deep significance.

Cape Reinga guarantees you with the ultimate panoramic view. Follow the walkway from the parking, to find yourself high up on the hillside. Walk down to a lighthouse and viewing platform, all the while overlooking the water that stretches till your eyes can see all around. Look for a good Accommodation in Cambridge North Island for a memorable stay.

90-mile Beach

On the western side just down from Cape Reinga is the misleadingly named “90 Mile Beach”.
In reality it is only 55 miles. But, nonetheless, that is a lot of beach!

This is an incredible part of the country that presents travellers with the chance to explore the endless expanses of sea and sand. It’s a unique sight to behold: colours blend into one, as the sands, sea and sky merge into one.

Bay of Islands

It is easily one of the greatest tourist destinations on the North Island, and it has good reasons too. Comprised of 144 isles it is the home to NZ’s most impressive wildlife and beautiful scenery.

The size, scale and popularity of the Bay of Islands means that there’s a lot you can do here.

Doesn’t matter if it’s hiking, sea kayaking, dolphin & whale watching, or a simple drink or two in one of the many bars and restaurants, there’s something for everyone. You can also find many Affordable Accommodations in North Island dotted around.

In peak season (from November through February) the atmosphere is found to be buzzing as travellers flock to the area. However, despite all of its vibrancy and liveliness, it can also sometimes feel busy. You can definitely far more tourists here than other parts of NZ, which may or may not be your thing.

However, even if you are only planning to visit for the afternoon, the beauty and variety of the place shouldn’t be missed.

A Refreshing Option

Farm stays are a unique option if you want a real taste of the rustic and authentic Kiwi farm life. Roll up your sleeves and be prepared to pitch in! Wake up to the smell of a healthy farmstead breakfast. Maybe give a hand in the farm if you are up for it; feeding the calves, rounding up the sheep, mending the fence maybe.

North Island offers affordable farm stays for travellers looking for an exclusive rural experience. A farm stay holiday is about the ‘local’ hospitality, huge open spaces and of course real home-cooked food! Our farmers have established a world-class working system in some of the most epic scenic areas on the face of this planet! New Zealand’s North Island is the smaller of the two but the most populous, though there is plenty of space and plenty of opportunities to be left alone. Outside of its increasingly sophisticated cities, Auckland being the foremost, there is a great variety of landscapes to be explored. The sub-tropical rain forests of the Northland and Bay of Islands, the geysers and thermal springs of volcanic Rotorua, the sulphur city, and the hauntingly beautiful solitude of Eastland being just some examples.

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and escape to a farm in North Island. Enjoy romantic evenings with open fires, candlelight and the warm wooden ambience of this restored historical cottage. Watch the sunset over the surrounding mountains while enjoying local produce and fine wine, after a day of exploring this wonderful area.

Often similar to a hotel, with a few extra activity options thrown in for you, stay in the home of your hosts. Farm stays in North Island and other parts of New Zealand lets you feel like part of the farming family and is a great alternative if you're travelling with a couple of friends or with children. Farm stays are a great option if you are looking for affordable accommodation in North Island.
